Hotkeed threatens to expose artistes using streaming farms

Afrobeats singer Hotkeed has raised concerns about the growing use of streaming farms in the Nigerian music industry, claiming that the practice is depriving genuinely talented artistes of the attention they deserve.

Speaking in a recent interview with content creator Jbrandy, the singer claimed that he knows at least 50 Nigerian artistes who allegedly use streaming farms to artificially boost their numbers on digital music platforms.

Hotkeed argued that the practice gives artistes who manipulate their streaming figures an unfair advantage while pushing genuine talents further into the background.

He warned that he could expose some of his colleagues if any of them ever offended him.

“If 20 artists are stream farming, you have taken 20 genuine artists back. If 50 artists are stream farming, you have taken 50 genuine artists back. It’s that bad,” he said.

The singer’s comments have once again drawn attention to concerns surrounding the alleged manipulation of streaming figures and the impact such practices could have on upcoming and independent artistes in the Nigerian music industry.
